Ennis is a process artist known for embodying obscure characters that unfold over extensive periods of time. An omni-channel storyteller, her mixed-media collections are often accompanied by ceremonious acts of release. She documents the relationship of identity and fate using as many mediums as possible (physical and digital). Key themes: abstraction, performance, duality, energy.

Ennis has always been highly nomadic with a preference for metropolitan cities/periodically self-isolating by the ocean. One can never guess if she’ll be in town for two days or two years. She is very conscious of environments influencing perspective. Born in Seoul, immigrated to Canada in the 90’s, she studied in Hong Kong and Atlanta before finally declaring New York home. Manifesto 1.0 begins here.

Ennis graduated magna cum laude with a B.F.A. in graphic design. “Design is a transferable skill that can be applied to any concept 2D-4D.” For the past decade plus, she balanced finding herself as a contemporary artist with client projects as a personal brand architect. Both express her passion for world-building and collaborating with innovators. See also: Professional Muse for Geniuses

  • Ennis’ maternal lineage is saturated with arts and academia. Her grandfather 이혜구 (Lee Hye-Gu) was one of the most prominent traditional Korean music scholars, a violinist and author widely regarded as a pioneer/founder of Korean musicology. Her grandmother was among the first female school principals in the country–fondly remembered for encyclopedic recognition of classical music, beautiful cooking and love of photography. Ennis’ syncretic sensibility disco balls the light of her mother’s eclectic taste, ranging from post-impressionism to 김건모 (Kim Gun-Mo). The two immigrated to west-coast Canada in 1995.

Ennis played Suzuki violin for 12 years before transitioning to photography. She dropped out of high school and moved out at sixteen to work full-time as a lifestyle magazine art director, completing her GED early with night classes. She recalls being the youngest media person at the Junos in 2009.

Throughout her teens, Ennis also worked in restaurants, casual to fine dining. She discovered the intersection of food, culture and art through photographers like Penny De Los Santos and reading Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential. Fold in layers of Zhang Huan’s performance + photos such as To Add One Meter to an Anonymous Mountain, 65KG, and Pilgrimage--Wind and Water in New York. Manifesto 1.0 is truly Ennis, post-impression.

In 2011, her self-love portraiture series of women wearing Agent Provocateur inspired the brand to sponsor her first gallery event. She moved to Hong Kong a couple months later with a scholarship to Savannah College of Art & Design. Junior year, Ennis transferred to the Atlanta campus. She credits mentorship from Scott Norton, founder/original CMO of Sir Kensington’s during this time, who sparked her love of cpg + start-up culture.

Ennis eventually turned her attention to developing the founders themselves, in conjunction with their brands/businesses. Life-coaching morphed with brand consulting/management into personal brand architecture, incorporating all of the above. Her holistic yet keenly goal-oriented approach appeals to high-performing individuals.

  • Personal brand architecture merges brand consulting/management with life-coaching. Ennis works with clients one-on-one to foster holistic growth. She specializes in people based brands e.g. artists, athletes, influencers, contemporary founders/c-suites.

Ennis has experience with the full spectrum of businesses from mom and pop shops to Fortune 500 companies, B2B, B2C, D2C and WEB3. Some of her most recognized projects include redesigning all current Johnson & Johnson’s baby products and branding Rumble Boxing (global fitness franchise acquired by Equinox).

Ennis’ trademark process includes documentarian style observation, producing 35mm photography and digital media. She has a knack for being in the right place at the right time with a camera.

  • The term process art refers to where the process of its making art is not hidden but remains a prominent aspect of the completed work, so that a part or even the whole of its subject is the making of the work.

The common refrain, “It’s the journey, not the destination,” could make a perfect catchphrase for Process Art. A movement that arose in the 1960s and '70s and has since expanded in definition to describe a general philosophical approach to making art, Process Art places its emphasis on the process and act of artistic creation rather than the actual finished work that comes out of it.
